What Should I Wear for a Professional Headshot?

Choosing the right outfit for a professional headshot does need to be complicated. Often we all have items that are already in our wardrobe that can be assembled to make our headshot stand out. Here are some things to consider when choosing an outfit for your headshot.

• Layers provide depth and visual interest- this can be in the form of a blazer or suit jacket.

• If not going for the blazer look, choose a top that has textures. Textures come in many forms, including lace (as pictured above), flowy sleeves, or details and pattern in the neckline.

• When choosing a tie, I recommend choosing one with a more neutral color or pattern in order not to detract from the main focus- you!

• Choose more neutral colors, and especially ones that you feel comfortable with.

• The last and most important thing to consider is that you need to choose something that makes you feel good when you are wearing it. If you are comfortable, you will appear confident!
