When Should I Book My Senior Portraits?
Senior year has started and you made it to Senior sunrise. Or, maybe not. Maybe Senioritis has already entered the chat and you slept in that day. Either way, this year is full of a lot of celebrations, and one of my favorites is the Senior Portrait Session.
In Texas, we have about two and half seasons, but I just want to reflect upon how much I love all of them for Senior Portraits.
First up, Summer. Do you want beautiful blooms but maybe have a crazy Spring your Senior year? Get those portraits done early and take advantage of the gorgeous flowers that bloom all the way through the end of June. Then you can enter your Senior year with one important thing checked off before you have even submitted any college applications.
Next, Fall. The Fall light in Texas is some of the best golden light we get all year. Reschedules due to rain or wind are highly unlikely. Deadlines for Senior baby ads at both College Station High School and A&M Consolidated are often in November, so you have your photos for baby ads and any other photo requests that pop up throughout the year. And you won’t be overwhelmed with just one more thing to pack into your Spring schedule.
Now let’s talk about the Winters in College Station, Texas. The temperatures are finally decent. We do have cold fronts that move in, but more often that not, we have moderate temperatures. The Texas A&M students have gone home, so popular locations for Senior photos are not overrun with people. Places like downtown Bryan, the George Bush Library, and the A&M Gardens are typically quiet. You have a little break from school, so you are not trying to squeeze in pictures into an already packed week or weekend. And my favorite? The sun goes down early so we start closer to 4pm and finish before dinner.
Last up, and the most popular season- Spring. Spring has it all, and if you are just using your Senior portraits for your graduation announcements and graduation parties, then Spring can be a great time to get your portraits done. The flowers are starting to bloom, and the temperatures are still moderate. By this time, you may know where you are headed after your Senior year, and your portraits can reflect that.
