But if you've ever tried to schedule an outdoor session in Brazos Valley, you know how quickly that picture falls apart. Six months of the year, it's genuinely hot and humid outside. Wearing cozy sweaters and layered textures - the kind of outfits that photograph beautifully - isn't realistic when it's 90 degrees before sunset. Add in fire ants, the occasional snake sighting, and weather that changes without warning, and "outdoor session" starts to sound a lot less relaxing.

There's also something else worth saying. When you're outside, the environment shares the frame with your family. Trees, backgrounds, open sky - they all compete for attention. Inside the studio, the focus stays exactly where it belongs: on the people you love.

What I've Learned from the Most Chaotic Sessions

I had three boys under the age of five in my studio once. They were running. Jumping. Climbing. Staying still was not on the agenda.

And we got a full gallery of beautiful sibling photos.

That session is one I come back to often, because it reminded me of something important: the chaos and the beauty are not opposites. Parents walk in expecting that if their kids aren't perfectly behaved, the photos won't turn out. What actually happens is the opposite. • You don't need to know what you're doing. Guiding you through the session is my job. You just need to show up and let me handle the rest.

Why This Actually Matters

Family photos have a way of feeling urgent only in hindsight. You notice the phase is over after it's already gone. The baby who never sat still becomes the kid who won't be picked up anymore. The sibling dynamic that felt chaotic and loud becomes the thing everyone misses most.
